Topic: Special Guest Speaker: Angela ChenDear Folks of Baba,Our next guest speaker on Sunday, November 24th will be Angela Chen, who is known to most of us, as the initiator and coordinator of babazoom and through her many Baba-related activities over the last so many years. Hereunder is her bio:Angela has been engaged in creating and organizing Baba meetings soon after coming to Baba in 1995. She became involved with the annual Northeast Gathering in 1997 and served as its bookwalla from 1998-present. She also served as the President of Meher Baba House from 2001-04, during which time she filmed precious archival videos of visiting speakers, now all made available on youtube. From 2005-2014, Angela served on the AMB Heartland Center Board, making the pilgrimage to the accident site annually for board work retreats. While working for them, one of Angela’s biggest achievements was handling the logistics for the 200-attendee 2012 Sahavas, located far away from any major city or community of Baba lovers. People converged from all directions for a four-day Sahavas, all mingling freely in love!After moving from New York to Myrtle Beach, Angela served on the Board of the AMB Circle of Friends from 2018-2020, where her interest was in creating meetings to supplement the events already organized by the Meher Spiritual Center, located literally across the street. When the pandemic hit, she took Baba meetings into Zoom. The workload became so great, she stepped down from the Circle of Friends to dedicate herself entirely to Baba Zoom, now an independent organization more officially called Meher Baba Family – Worldwide.As its Coordinator, she inspires creative new kinds of meetings and cajoles people to make them a reality. She also coordinated service projects small and large. The most significant 2021 project was to raise $43,500 for Covid relief work in India, funneling the funds to known Baba Family participants who were already spontaneously initiating direct help to their neighbors – funds directly benefited real people, with no middle men nor bureaucracy. The same pattern has emerged for the 2024 project to fundraise for Asheville area recovery post-Helene, where $72,000 (plus an unknown value in donated goods and musical instruments) has been raised and used to support Baba lovers, and the work of Baba lovers doing relief work on the ground.Angela is the tech emergency line for Baba Zoom, handling issues as they arise during live meetings and helping people get online. She maintains the calendar and website to up-to-date accuracy, promotes events via email, Facebook and Whatsapp. She handles the video work – downloading from the Zoom cloud, uploading to Youtube and editing them. All in all, since April 2020, this work has been and still is a second full-time job! I am sure I can speak on behalf of all of us on zoom, when I say that Angela is a Baba-dynamo with her tireless and selfless efforts in service to our Beloved Baba. Topic: Guest Speaker Alisa GenoveseDear folks of Baba, Tonight we have as our guest, Alisa Genovese, who came to Baba when she was just 19 years old back in the 1970s. Given her background, she could have gone many different ways in her life, and the way that unfolded for her was a lifelong dedication to Baba. She was married to Robert Dreyfus who had the great good fortune of meeting Baba in the mid-1960s, and over the years she spent many intimate times with Baba’s mandali. She has beautiful stories to tell of those experiences. In here career as a therapist, Alisa has seen many of the problems and challenges facing that keep us from a deeper intimacy with Baba and with each other. She has a wealth of insight into the human condition today, so don’t hesitate to ask her questions. She is currently working on a project in conjunction with the Heartland Center in Prague, OK to acquire and memorialize the sacred sites related to Baba’s 1952 accident and recuperation. Alisa is a resident of Asheville, NC, a city that was heavily hit recently by Hurricane Helene, and she witnessed the profound cooperation among people of different backgrounds and political stripes who came together to help people in their supreme need and stress during this severe tragedy. As I mentioned earlier, Alisa is open to questions on a wide range of topics and is happy to encourage discussion. One topic she has shared that might be especially pertinent is how we can make our relationship with Baba more personal: cultivating His companionship. And also, how we can be more receptive to intuition, our intimate way of communicating directly with Baba. Topic: Special Guest Speaker, Farshid Namiranian.Dear Folks of Baba,Our speaker next Sunday is Farshid Namiranian, and hereunder is his bio.Farshid Namiranian was born in Yazd, Iran, in a family dedicated to Meher Baba. Many of his elder relatives and family members met Meher Baba going back to the mid-1920s. His two paternal uncles were in Baba’s Ashram. He grew up with several Prem Ashram boys, who later returned to Iran to live their adult years. Farshid had the special honor to translate for these special souls who spent precious time with Baba as teenagers at Meherabad. He has written their life stories. He now lives in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, and is the husband of Marjan, who is deeply devoted to Baba, and he is the father of two sons who have grown up coming frequently to the Center and taking part in its many activities.We look forward to hearing his wonderful stories of time spent with all those fortunate souls from Iran, who were students at Baba's Prem Ashram in the 1920's at Meherabad, like Esfandiar Vesali and his own relatives. Hereunder is her bio.Vanessa Weichberger was born in the foothills of the San Bernardino mountains outside of Los Angeles, very near where the first L.A. Sahavas took place. At age 10 her family moved to Las Cruces, New Mexico where they met Darwin Shaw’s daughter Leatrice Johnston who facilitated regular Baba meetings. Baba has always been central in her life from an early age.Vanessa is a fine artist specializing in portraits of Meher Baba. Vanessa raised her family in Myrtle Beach to be near the Meher Spiritual Center, and she is a mother of three boys, and one adopted daughter, plus two step-children (six total). She takes joy in supporting the youth, and new Baba-lovers, with the love that was modeled by Meher Baba’s mandali. She lives in Charleston, SC with her husband Laurent Weichberger, their youngest child Francis, and daughter Margi. She is full of enthusiasm in her life with Baba.We look forward to her sharing with great enthusiasm.
